I totally get this! With something like Tonestack, GarageBand amps, Deplike, or the Bias demo, I felt like my playing was being digitally corrected, like my touch and intonation were being overridden by the amp model or chain they were trying to impose. Not anymore, and now that I’m used to it, I’m hooked. I could play as sloppy as anything and it would all sound pretty much the same.

At first that was hard to get used to after playing with good, but stodgy amp sims. However, I will say that the big difference I’ve found with the Nembrini amps is the dynamics and responsiveness to playing style. There are a few presets I’ve found or built in all the amp sims I have, which has made it hard to get rid of any of them. Demos can be a good indicator of the overall character and capabilities of a sim. Every guitar, player, interface, type of strings, etc are too different for presets to have any hope of consistent meaning. Presets for an amp sim are kind of silly. and just be happy as a clam with my couple of favorites from now on.īut everyone has different needs and desires. Unless I get drafted into a cover band (fat chance!), I’m ‘bout ready to ditch my 732 different amp models in Ampltube, Bias, Bias FX, ToneStack. Never had that before with amp sims, and I’m loving it. I’ve drifted away from my old mode of wanting to have the “most accurate recreation of such and such an amp” to loving the apps that give me the most connection between the myself and the guitar, and the tones that just sound “right” to me. Yeh, I think we’re kind of saying the same thing.

With the Bias and the other early-gen amp sims, you seem need a larger difference in the input volume to achieve the same effect. With real tube amps and preamps, this is th norm (though with every amp it takes some experimentation to find the right settings and might require a clean boost pedal). But, I mostly like my amp set up so that I can go from barely dirty to a sweet distorted sound by just playing harder and turning the pickups up a bit. I can get good “static” sounds from Bias (or AmpliTube) where the level of distortion/breakup is fairly constant. I think a lot depends onn what types of responsiveness one needs. there’s an amazing run like hell intro preset that sounds near identical.) And I enjoy being able to switch from slash, to Gilmour to Stevie ray vaughn emulations in an instant. I’m talking down to guitar player, song, and even section of a song (I.e. Idk, I was able to find any tone I wanted along with multiple versions from the community user presets of the first bias. That’s biggest problem with 2 though.the presets available didn’t carry over and now it has to take time again for people to create new ones I do have to say though that the presets they come with are not a good indicator of its quality, it’s really when the tone cloud community (one of the best features) gets going that the potential shines through. I still personally feel the sound is great, but I guess I haven’t delved into the nembrini apps enough. U guys have (unfortunately) made some very compelling points.and now I have to go reconsider everything
